Private Childbirth Education | Northern Virginia & DC
Understanding Childbirth
Birth is powerful, and understanding it changes everything.
In our private childbirth education classes, we gently unravel common fears by exploring how the body works during labor and what pain truly represents. Through education and reflection, I help you build confidence, strengthen self-advocacy skills, and clarify your birth preferences.
Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, or anything in between, my intention is that you feel informed, supported, and deeply connected to your experience.

What We'll Explore Together
Understanding Your Body & Birth
Explore the anatomy of pregnancy, the mechanics of contractions, and the hormones that help guide labor. We'll discuss how your body changes physically, emotionally, and mentally, along with ways to navigate common pregnancy discomforts.
Comfort Measures & Partner Support
Learn practical tools for labor, including breathing techniques, movement, positioning, relaxation, and comfort measures. Your birth partner will also learn ways to offer meaningful, hands-on support throughout labor.
Exploring Your Birth Options
We'll discuss how birth unfolds in different settings, including hospitals, birth centers, and home. You'll explore pain management options, common medical interventions, and ways to communicate your preferences with your care team.
Preparing for the Unexpected
Birth doesn't always follow a script. Together, we'll explore how to navigate changing circumstances, ask questions, understand your options, and stay emotionally grounded when plans shift.
The First Days of Parenthood
We'll also prepare for the immediate postpartum period, including what to expect during early recovery, the first hours and days with your baby, and the basics of newborn care.
This class is not about predicting your birth. It’s about helping you understand it, participate in it, and move through it with confidence.
